Loewe, latest retailer to join T&G Building

Luxury leather goods fashion house, Loewe, will open its flagship boutique at the T&G Building at 161 Collins Street, taking the retail precinct to 100 per cent leased.

Taking position on the ground floor of the building on Flinders Lane and with plans to transform, what was once an Italian restaurant into a highly refined, personal, and cultural space by Loewe.

Dimitri Soulos, our Investment Manager said, “Our refurbishment of the T&G Building in 2018 endeavored to modernise the property for the needs of the modern workforce while maintaining the charm of one of Melbourne’s best-loved heritage buildings. Since completion, we have been on a constant pursuit to adapt and revitalise the building in alignment with our vision to provide a thoughtfully curated community.

“We’re thrilled to have Loewe join our existing mix of luxury retail tenants and food and beverage offerings to complement the contemporary office environment we have created. The Melbourne CBD is returning to life and the addition of Loewe to the T&G Building is a sign of exciting things to come,” added Soulos.

Signaling the strength of the luxury market, Loewe will join existing luxury retailers within the building, Versace, Gucci and Bottega Venetta, alongside a range of much-loved food and beverage tenants including Lune and three offerings by The Mulberry Group.

Established in 1846, Loewe is a brand with an extensive history founded in Spain. The careful restoration of the heritage T&G Building, as well as the location in the prestigious “Paris End” of Collins Street, makes it the perfect home for our latest boutique. The design of the store will encapsulate Casa Loewe, the foundational concept for Loewe stores globally, denoting a place of luxury, intimacy, and culture.

Zelman Ainsworth, Director of Ainsworth Property (AP), who negotiated the deal with LVMH said, “The execution of this deal pushed the dial on what’s possible in terms of leasing, as we conducted the process entirely virtually with an international client. We utilised advanced and innovative technologies, including video flythroughs, to demonstrate the potential of the space and its fit for Loewe.”
