Wilderness Society moves to 1801 Pennsylvania Avenue

The 22,916 sq. ft. lease will encompass the second and third floors of the newly renovated 13-story office building, located adjacent to Farragut West Metro Station.

Across its global portfolio, we have invested in repositioning assets; a core practice that attracted The Wilderness Society to the building.

At 1801 Pennsylvania Avenue, the repositioning included a dual-height entry opening into a renovated and reconfigured lobby, new amenity areas, floor-to-ceiling glazing and enlarged corner office windows along Pennsylvania Avenue that increase natural light. The Wilderness Society’s new space will overlook Edward R. Murrow Park. The park is part of a neighborhood improvement initiative, in partnership with Pembroke, to promote a safe and vibrant outdoor space to give back to the community. We have also renovated the systems ahead of the end of their useful life to improve performance, sustainability, and eliminate harmful chemicals.

“We are thrilled to welcome The Wilderness Society to 1801 Pennsylvania Avenue,” said Cory Saunders, VP/Head of Washington Office. “It is an honor to partner with such a remarkable organization in providing TWS with a long-term headquarters solution.”

Located a block from the Farragut West metro station on the blue, orange and silver lines and across from Edward R. Murrow Park, The World Bank and the IMF, 1801 Pennsylvania Avenue is a 13-story 197,000 sq ft building that has recently undergone a rooftop to lower level renovation, delivering an elevated, boutique environment with market-leading amenities and infrastructure to meet the demands of today’s workforce. A hospitality-inspired lobby with social lounge and coffee bar is available all-day to tenants and guests.

A distinctive open-air cupola and one of the tallest rooftops in the district make 1801 Pennsylvania Avenue ideal for meetings, social events, fitness and client hosting with views of the Washington Monument, Regan National Airport and the Jefferson Memorial. The 5,000 sq ft fitness center features Peloton bikes, TRX training equipment, Wellbeats on-demand classes, Yoga and HIIT studio spaces, energy “nap” pods, and locker rooms. Base building infrastructure includes redundant major building systems, above-average power availability, and destination dispatch elevator controls.

152,000 sq ft of first-class office space is available at the completed 1801 Penn. Visit 1801penn.com for more details about this unique Pennsylvania Avenue opportunity. We recently completed another repositioning at 1201 New York Ave, a 444,000 sq ft Class A office building, which like 1801 Pennsylvania Avenue, has been enhanced with new curated amenities and thoughtful community-driven experiences.
